How can you improve your English by just listening while working on something else?

G'day, how are you doing? Today, I am going to touch on how just listening to radio or podcast programs while doing something else turns to be the very effective method of boosting English skills.

  1. It is prerequisite for every English learners to be proficient in at least the basic vocabularies and English grammar including 44 sounds of English pronunciation. Without this, you're likely to go in one ear and out the other, which means that you're seemingly having constant exposure to the English environment, but most of the sentences you're hearing will be gone as just a noise.
  2. I highly recommend visualising the scenery and situation of the conversation that you're hearing, which really helps improve English comprehension. Even if you're working on something else while listening, you could at least visualise any tiny thing. Please try your best!
  3. You also want to try reciting any interesting phrases or sentences to yourself in a low voice. This is a really good training for boosting your listening and speaking skills as well. Please just try to repeat sentences as you hear. It doesn't matter how accurate you recite it. Doing this per se means a lot to your English learning.
  4. Speaking to yourself (Internal monologue) after just listening study. I'm sure you've got at least few things that have left an impression on your mind. With your memos or memory, please try to talk to yourself! This is a great opportunity for intermediate to advanced learners to enhance your English ability.

If you follow these kinds of methods, then you will be stunned how much you've improved dramatically. Just listening isn't effective at all.
