How to gauge your English language skills

G'day, what are you up to mate? Today, I am going to touch on how you can check your English language proficiency at home. There's a bunch of methods out there, but I've carefully selected 4 ways. Let's get underway!

You just try to google to find some of the best online English Level Check Tests

There are heaps of websites available online. But the majority of them, I reckon, are rubbish. Specifically speaking, they'd be even detrimental to your mental or motivation towards your English learning. So, just be extra careful when you are searching online. Basically, it's a good start of trying to pick up some famous organisations such as British Council, Cambridge English, or Oxford Online English, etc. In doing so, you'll know at what level your English should be at the moment.

You just try to google to find a website that checks your English pronunciation, oral fluency and content pretty accurately

It's extremely important for English learners to check your pronunciation, oral fluency and content regularly, but ideally, every day. Once you've got accustomed to erroneous pronunciation and learning methods, you'd hardly recognise yourself whether you're correct or not. Worst of all, it's going to be extremely difficult to fix them within a short period of time. So, please make sure you regularly check yourself like a health check-up. The earlier you diagnose these three categories, the easier you can fix and improve them.

You just try to set up a specific topic every morning, and then you extemporise self-presentation based on the topic

Self-presentation is very beneficial to checking your English skills. Although no one listens to your talk, you yourself can know what are correct or wrong as you verbalise loudly. You can hardly notice your weakness or strength just subvocalising. It's just like a singer's voice training. If you don't sing a song, you won't definitely improve your singing skills. As you speak loudly, you will know what sounds you think you do frequently mispronounce. If you are stuck, do hesitate, or make unnecessary pauses, then it's a good indication of exactly where you ought to improve yourself.

You can ask someone who is proficient in English for dictating your speech

The last one I want to introduce you is dictation. It's also a good check-up for your English level. If your English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation are solid, then your checker would be able to dictate what you're trying to say effortlessly. You can ask your checker for diagnosing these categories very strictly, so you'll be told exactly what to do to improve your English language.

That's all for today. Thanks for having a flip through my blog!

Have a wonderful day!
