G'day mate. Howdy? Today, what I'm going to be talking about is how to maximise the possibility of acquiring a better English ability. Three things have to be taken into account: namely, clear goals, time to focus and a distraction-free workspace. What are they? Without further ado, let's find out.
First and foremost, we've got to have clear goals when it comes to English learning. Pass the exam? Become capable of communicating with native speakers? Or something else? Whatever you've been embracing would be awesome. Without any, it's going to be really hard to keep you motivated, isn't it? Yes, of course, your goal doesn't have to be big, but it has to be rather feasible and manageable, which is quite important to keep in mind. Having a doable goal is the key to be successful. To this end, you've got to ponder and analyse what you can do to maximise the possibility of acquiring a better English ability. For instance, pronunciation has to be mastered within a month, and I'll be able to get the most out of almost all grammatical structures in the next 6 months or two. Something like this is a short-to-intermediate term goal.
Next up, time to focus is equally important for those wishing to acquire a better English ability. Although it's not easy to allocate a certain amount of time for learning English in a day, there'll be no choice but to focus on. Otherwise, the more you procrastinate, the longer you will have to spend time on studying. We can procrastinate anytime when we get bored, right? So, losing concentration is so easy, whereas keeping full concentration is so tough and daunting, right? Because, you have to be very determined that I will do this, do this, and do this within a fixed period of time, for instance. Learning English is a kind of project management, I reckon. Everyone can do if having lots of time. As I mentioned last blog, life is finite, so the earlier and shorter you focus on studying, the faster and the more effective you will be able to acquire a better English ability.
Last but not least, we've got to make sure that there is a distraction-free workspace at home. It is true that some noise and distraction are good for study, but this is specifically dependent upon individuals, and also what you are doing/learning. So, if you want to have a high level of productivity in your learning life, it's better to switch off every electronic devices including social networks. It's hard to avoid incoming notifications during study, right? Sometimes, it's awesome that we spend a completely state of silence, which gives you a bit of more concentration. If you tend to be sleepy quite easily in this situation, then you've got to rectify your lifestyle such as switching from a night owl to an early-bird/riser. For me, for instance, I normally go to bed before 10 pm, and get up at around 4am. 6 hour-night's sleep is the requisite condition for becoming an early-bird.
In conclusion, to be productive in your English learning life, having a clear objective, full concentration as well as a completely state of silence are must-have habits. You shouldn't spend too much time on small things. Be productive, be determined, but sometimes be laid-back!
