One of my friends who has just graduated a uni at the end of 2019, and he's been back in Japan since the mid-December 2019. He was supposed to come back to Australia at approximately the end of February, but, as you know, he lost the chance to go back to Australia and also he's been stuck in the process of subclass 485 graduate temporary work visa application due to travel restrictions. This really sucks. How could this issue be solved?

Well, the Australian Government has currently been taking into consideration the conditions for post-international students who cannot go back to Australia due to this time's complete ban on Australian entry. I am not quite sure precisely what sorta specific measures can be taken for those facing exceptional circumstances. For instance, the student visa or other temporary visa holders having the visa condition 8503 (No Stay after study) will probably be entitled to apply for a Covid-19 special fee-free visa.

The government does not want to see people become unlawful non-citizens here. Those having the visa expiring within the next two months must apply for a bridging visa immediately in order to retain lawful status in Australia. And, I heard those having their own superannuation funds are entitled to withdraw them. But I am not certain whether at maximum how much they can do so.

I reckon the government shouldn't charge income tax this financial year and return all people's withheld tax to them for remedying this unprecedented hardship. What I wholeheartedly want to see is this kinda decision to be made before the end of 2019-2020 Financial Year.
