G'day mate, how are you going? Today, I am going to talk about why I recommend taking the PTE exam over the other English exams. The reasons are quite straightforward. I myself did study and passed the exam. I've been researching, experimenting and analysing this exam over the last few years. I've eventually established my own method to tackle the exam. Let's straight into it!
- You'll be able to boost your all the four English skills (SWRL) significantly over the other existing English exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge or OET. Simply speaking, you do not have a dog's chance of reaching your desired score unless you are committed yourself to refining some specific essential techniques and skills. For the other exams, I reckon, there will have a handful luck.
- To reach your desired score, there'll be no way to pass unless you put so much effort into refining your English pronunciation. Otherwise, you automatically won't be able to pass the entire exam. Pronunciation doesn't mean just pronunciation itself, but grammar as well. You can have a good habit of reading articles aloud, repeating sentences as well as doing dictation practice on a daily basis. These are quite advantageous towards not just the attainment of your desired score, but more practical side.
- If you study the PTE, your oral fluency will go up spectacularly! Because of the nature of the PTE speaking question types, you will have to be very fluent. You will have to discipline yourself to have no unnecessary pauses, hesitations as well as non-native phonological simplifications. After a couple of months have elapsed, you will surely recognise how much you've improved. When it comes to the other exams, I don't think there's such an opportunity to learn seriously. The sole purpose of studying the other exams like IELTS is to just reach your desired score, not your overall practical English skills.
- Personally, I've never taken the VERSANT before, so I am not in a position to talk about this exam, but what I can say is that this exam is managed by the same organisation as the PTE does, or "Pearson". Apart from the PTE and VERSANT, Pearson is running other specific qualifications such as IT and Accounting certifications. So, Pearson is obviously reputed to be a trustful authority amongst these professionals.
- The vast majority of prestigious universities around the world accept the PTE exam results as a means of fulfilling an entry requirement for International Students. Of course, IELTS and TOEFL are still much more popular, but I highly recommend switching your intended exam from IELTS to PTE, in consideration of its versatility, usability and usefulness.
- If you have already reached the IELTS OA 7.0 level, you might be able to smash all the 8s straight in 3 months. Needles to say, however, this outcome won't be applicable to everyone. I've got a special method or strategy to nail this exam for you. Please drop by my English program.
Last but not least, you can use your PTE result for lodging your EOI (Expression of Interest) towards Australian Permanent Residency. The earlier you kick off studying the PTE, the faster you will achieve your PR here in Australia. That's all for today. Thanks for reading.
Have a good one!
