Why repeating sentences is a very effective method to improve English skills?

G'day mate, what are you up to? Today, I am going to talk about why repeating sentences is a very effective method to improve English skills. Not many English learners know this method. Shadowing is one of the most famous ones amongst them, but I don't think it's a good one when it comes to the maximisation of benefits towards English learning. Right, let's give you a brief rundown on the benefits of repeating sentences.

Repeating sentences has a highly beneficial effect on polishing and boosting instantaneous muscular strengths

Repeating sentences requires more instantaneous concentration in comparison with shadowing, because you are listening to an audio sentence by sentence, so you don't want to miss out any word. In contrast, shadowing is just like regurgitating what an audio speaker is saying, which might be much harder to catch up with everything. And, in fact, it's not effective when it comes to boosting your concentration level. Your brain won't 100 % work as you listen to the audio longer and longer. So, the shorter, the better, obviously. Also, the shorter the audio text, the better concentration you will surely get. For this reason, repeating sentences takes effect in respect of polishing your instantaneous muscular strengths.

You'll be able to catch the sounds of what the audio speaker is talking about sentence by sentence, and understand spellings and meanings of words from your etymological knowledge

When you repeat sentences, you are subconsciously predicting spellings and meanings from phonological sense combining with your prior etymological knowledge. Of course, if you don't have any knowledge about word roots and basic vocabularies, then repeating sentences is unfortunately not really effective. It should be understood that you should've already been equiped yourself with these basics before starting this repeat-sentence training. Ok, so, otherwise you should be able to hear and understand spellings crystal clear unless the audio speaker speaks so fast or with a very strong accent.

You'll be able to almost unconsciously memorise new phrases as you repeat the same sentences over and over again

It looks like boring and tedious, but actually it does excellently and miraculously work out, because you are listening to the audiotext and simulataneously understanding spellings and meanings of words based on your etymological knowledge and correct pronunciation. These two skills are indispensable to the development of new phrases by just listening to sentences and repeating them only. If you've already got them, as it were, it's technically possible to increase your new phrases and words without reading training, because you can garner enough information to be able to speak and write proper English sentences. But don't forget about basic grammar as well. The mastery of all basic grammar is just prerequisite before starting any kind of advanced training.

You'll be able to establish yourself as having more accurate sentence structures in a natural way

Repeating the same sentences over and over again really helps get the stability of more grammatically correct sentence structures naturally. Reading English sentences is an undeniably good method, but repeating the same sentences go into effect much more than reading. This is because that you are understanding them from the sounds or phonological sense, which is not only beneficial for improving speaking skills, but also writing as well. In contradistinction from repeating sentences, reading sentences can develop your reading and writing skills only, because it's technically possible to read and write sentences without understanding correct pronunciation, especially non-native English speakers including myself. You will surely understand how important repeating sentences is extremely effective when it comes to accelerating the speed of your English learning.

That's all for today. Thanks for reading.

Have a great weekend!
