Writing is the by-product of Speaking?!

G'day, what are you up to mate? Today, what I want to mention is that Writing is the by-product of Speaking. If you are good at speaking, then you should be able to write something in English easily. Why is that? Well, let's get underway.

First and foremost, you need to be good at speaking first. You're, by no means, poor at writing. But nevertheless, if you're not good at speaking, then there should be some issues such as pronunciation, grammar or lack of vocabulary, etc. As for writing, you could be good at, because you can even write sentences with the use of a dictionary. Unless closed-book exams, you're allowed to use any supplementary sources such as a dictionary. However, are you consulting such a dictionary wisely? The usage for the words you are checking has to be used appropriately, otherwise the meaning of your sentence will probably be wonky in some ways. This is called "artificial writing". For speaking, this won't happen basically, whereas this case happens in writing in case you're not confident in the usage of the word.

To avoid this issue, you've got be very careful when it comes to the use of a dictionary. Yes, of course, you're allowed to consult it, but you need to fully understand how the word should be used in appropriate ways, considering colocation, word-choice as well as grammar. If you're not 100 per cent sure, then you'd rather not use/abuse the word in your writing, simply because no one can understand what you really wanted to say. Without a doubt, you'd better use your own words that you're 100 per cent confident in using for both speaking and writing. That's why I must say Writing is the by-product of Speaking.

If you'd like to boost your writing skills, then I do highly recommend writing sentences as you speak on a daily basis, which is far better and more fruitful than using a dictionary for your writing. So, first of all, you've got be equipped with the ability to write more colloquial expressions or informal conversational English, which is primarily important for beginners to do, even advanced learners as well. And, of course, daily reading and/or listening training improves the ability to express yourself.
