You need to get tense and simple SVO structure right

2021年12月23日

G'day, how are you going mate? Today, what I'd like to emphasise is that you need to get tense and simple SVO structure right. That's pretty much it you really need when it comes to not just communicating in English but the English language in general. Let's talk about this in more details.

First and foremost, correct tense is critically important to be used when you are speaking, simply because people won't get it what you wanna say. Or they will probably misunderstand. To avoid or minimise the possibility of making mistakes, you don't want to use present and past perfect tense when you are speaking. How could you avoid using them? Well, you just need simple present, past, future as well as continuous forms when you are explaining something. This is the best strategy for those who are worried about making mistakes. And also, you want to try not to use any passive forms, which often make us get confused if you are not using the forms correctly. The simpler you say, the better understanding people will get for sure.

Next up, using simple SVO structure makes your communication in English so much easier. SVO abbreviates Subject, Verb and Object, all of which are indispensable for the English language. If any of them is lacking or faulty, then the vast majority of ordinary people won't comprehend what you want to say. You can't omit any of them unless they know or knew before you introduce the Subject or the Object, but the Verb mightn't be applicable in any circumstances due to the nature of the English grammar. For instance, if I say like 'already borrowed that' to my friend. In this sentence, the Subject and Object are missing, right? However, my friend can understand me easily, because s/he knows or knew what I am/was supposed to say. Apart from this sort of exception, you shouldn't omit subject and object in any circumstances.
